After being out of work for two months, I met Karen and co from Creating Futures and they set me up with a placement working at a butchers in Patcham. I have been working there for four months. I have learnt loads of different skills, i.e. punctuality, marketing, knife cutting, speaking to customers and I really enjoy it. Les and Tim, my employers, have agreed to take me on full time and sort out some driving lessons.

Case Study 2
I was looking through the paper one day and spotted an advertisement for the Prince’s Trust Team Programme in Horsham. I thought that this was something amazing that I needed to be a part of so gave the Team leader a call. The next thing I was starting a 12-week self development course, which involved going on a residential, organising a community project and team challenge. For a lot of these tasks I took a key leadership role within the Team to ensure that we completed these tasks. Along with the residential and taking a lead role within the Team I discovered that I wanted to get involved in some kind of teaching.
Towards the end of the team the position of Team Leader came up with Creating Futures, the delivery partner for Prince’s Trust Team in Sussex. My Team Leader encouraged me to apply and within a week of leaving the Team Programme I had a job in Crowborough starting up and running the new Team there. It is one of the best jobs I have ever done and it gave me the opportunity to give something back to the company that had help me find a new direction in life.

Case Study 3
Malcolm Lloyd; I am 45 years old and married with 3 grown up children.
I have worked most of my life as an HGV driver and when made redundant I began work through an employment agency. Sadly in October last year this agency closed and I was made redundant again.
I am diabetic and was given a lot of specialist help from my adviser Debbie at the Chichester Job Centre. She suggested I go on a 13 week course with Creating Futures in Bognor Regis which could help me in all aspects of my job searching.
I wasn’t too hopeful and was concerned I would be sitting around for 13 weeks, however, I participated in some great workshops and I managed to get a new CV and Covering Letter which helped me to gain some interviews.
I was sending about 20 letters a day and I believe in total during my time with Creating Futures I probably sent around 350 letters to companies. I spent 11 weeks with Creating Futures and in that time I went on 11 interviews with different companies. It was hard to stay motivated and at times I felt like I would never get a job!
Soon enough I was offered employment on a 3 month trial in a driving position with a company called Solent Wholesale in Chichester. I have just completed this period and have been given a full time contract! I am so pleased to be working for a great company and a great team, I would like to thank all the team at Creating Futures in Bognor; Peter, Lindi, Dawn, Mark and Jo.
