Employer Engagement

The Employer Engagement Team at Creating Futures Ltd work alongside local businesses to help find work trials and work placements for the people on our different programmes.
We concentrate on building relationships with local industry and are constantly on the look out for new opportunities where we can work together to help people into employment.
We have employer engagement officers based throughout Sussex who cover East and West Sussex and Kent.

Our Clients
Let’s face it – if someone has been out of work for some time it can be difficult to get back into the swing of things again!
Creating Futures Ltd work with people to help build their skills and their confidence to give them the boost they need to get back in to work.
By taking part in a work trial or work placement a person can gain valuable experience. With some of the younger people on our programmes it also gives them a taster of the sort of job they may like to do in the future.

Our Programmes
We work with all Creating Futures Ltd programmes that require work placements or work trials:  New Deal, Pathways to Work, Community Project, Care to Share, Princes Trust, VInvolved and Sussex Probation.
What occupational areas do we work with?
Well the variety is amazing.  Shops, warehouses, riding stables, leisure centres, restaurants, gardening and grounds maintenance…………the list is endless and our only remit really is to try and find a placement or work trial that best matches a person’s skills.

How Long Are The Placements and Work Trials?
This varies depending on the needs of the individual and the requirements of the programme.  Our clients who require more support and training may be on a placement for 8-13 weeks; however, a client who is ready to work immediately would be advised to complete a 10 work trial with the aim of employment after this.

What Do I Need To Know As A Business Owner?
Work Placement:
Essentially this scheme gives you an extra pair of hands for the duration of the placement.  Some organisations then go on to offer a permanent job, others prefer to stay with the placement system and ask for a new person at the end of each placement period.
Work Trial:
A work trial gives you the opportunity to establish whether our client is suitable for the job vacancy you have.  The duration of a work trial is 10 days with the aim of employing the client after this.  However there is no obligation to employ.

What Do I Need To Do Next?
• Contact your local employer engagement officer to discuss your requirements.
• They will arrange to visit to discuss these requirements in more detail and carry out a Health and Safety Assessment of your work place.
• Your information will be recorded on our database of employers and as soon as we have someone who matches your requirements one of our field officers will call you to arrange an interview.
• You can ask to see a CV and of course interview the client we send you and if you are happy we can then arrange a date for them to start their placement/work trial.
• For the duration of the placement/work trial we ask that you treat the person like one of your regular staff.

Health & Safety
We have a duty of care to our clients and therefore will always carry out a health and safety assessment before the placement/work trial commences.  If you would like to access further information about health and safety in the work place we recommend that you check the Health & Safety Executive website.
